Hammam, scrub, massage: which does what
These three words turn up everywhere and do not mean the same thing. The difference is simple once it is laid out.
The hammam is a place and a method
It is the steam room, and the sequence that goes with it: heat, black soap, glove, rinse. The scrub is part of it, not an extra beside it.
The scrub is one step
It is the kessa glove. It lifts the dead layer off the skin. On its own, outside the hammam, it works less well: without the steam first, the skin is not ready.
The massage is something else
It works muscle, not skin. It does not need the hammam to be worth having, but it lands particularly well straight after, when the skin is clean and the body is already warm.
The order, if you take both
Hammam first, massage second. Never the other way round: the glove would take the massage oil straight back off, and you would have paid twice for one thing.
If you are only coming once
Book the two back to back: a hammam, then a massage. Allow a little over two hours in all. Durations are on the menu.
